PoE

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology that enables the delivery of electrical power along with data transmission over standard Ethernet cables. This simplifies the installation of network devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones, and wireless access points by eliminating the need for separate power supplies. PoE provides power through Ethernet cables using two methods: alternative (A) mode, which uses spare pairs in the cable, and phantom power (B) mode, which injects power into the data pairs. This technology supports both cost savings and increased flexibility in network design, particularly in environments where power outlets are limited or impractical.
