802.1X

802.1X is a network access control protocol designed to enhance security by providing a framework for authenticating devices before they can access a network. It is commonly used in wired and wireless networks to ensure that only authorized devices and users gain access. The protocol operates by using an authentication server, often employing the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP), to validate the credentials of a device attempting to connect. Once authenticated, the device is granted access based on policies defined by the network administrator. 802.1X is essential for enforcing network security and protecting against unauthorized access and potential security breaches.
